The answers from my coworkers to an important question! How would you describe your gender?

Can you guess which one is mine? 🌻

I did the thing! Felt awkward but needed to be done. Will be doing this once a month for a year, hehe

Only a fraction of a fraction of trans writers manage to make minimum wage, forget a living wage.

If you want trans literature to exist and you have the means, support trans authors.
Subscribe or donate to sources you support, especially indies. Pay a writer directly if you can.

Part of the reason many of us are navigating survival wages is because writing is often undervalued as "easy," simple as writing emails, that should be cheap to free.

Value writing? Then pay for it.

Did a half marathon before starting a full shift at work! 🫡🏳️‍⚧️ Got to start the parade hours before it actually begins.

(I went with string eventually to make this work)

I’m running nearly a half marathon super early tomorrow morning as part of my prep for a full marathon in October. Might as well make this my solo pride parade!

Hung out with other QTBIPOC last night, eating dinner and making protest signs, and we just talked for hours about how we’ve been doing in Portland, our histories… I shared what I had to do recently. I was reminded that our trans ancestors were often healers.

Ever since starting T a few weeks ago, I’ve had to do some hard, heartbreaking things. It’s been tangled up in my own grief and trauma, the devastating news. I’ve been leaning into my trans friends. They’ve collected a lot of my tears and grief. This book has been my life raft, too.

Sooooo good news, I’m still not afraid of needles and giving myself injections isn’t that anxiety-inducing. But it took me almost half an hour to get the shot set-up. 😅 Anyway, yay for T!

(The bottles of T, with discount, was $69 lol)

Also, the universe keeps giving me random bricks while I’m out on my runs. It’s trying to encourage me to do something with them… 👹

With all the terrible news coming in today, I at least have one good to share… I officially got my prescription to start on T today. 🏳️‍⚧️💗

This was the best way to end the day. 😭💗 And I got to spend it with good queer and trans friends! And made a new one! All the sets were so good!!! I’m inspired to work extra hard at guitar…

Reading/listening/watching all the accounts of what happened at the A Million Lives Book Festival from Baltimore and...oh my word. I'm secondhand degrees of pure rage.

Y'all deserved better than that disorganization. Definitely not the standard for book festivals at all. My heart goes out to you.

Also, as another great Adulting thing… found a new synagogue! And I became a member! 💗

Finally found a PCP that takes my insurance, is POC, and is super trans friendly! Set up an appointment with them, and hoping to start T soon. 💗

Any advice for giving a rally speech to a large weekend rally+march? 🫠 I have my speech written out and practiced, but I’m anxious that I won’t be “enough”, even though I’m fairly sure my speech is angry… I can’t help but be, books have literally saved my life multiple times. #censorship

Wearing a long skirt today and a sleeveless top today. With my haircut and general build though I read masc. An old white man said ‘ma’am, sir’ to me in one sentence and it almost fixed my weekend. 😂

Part of me wishes taking T would give me slightly bigger hands so I can play my guitar a bit easier. Alas… 😅

Maybe if trans people start wearing robot costumes NYT columnists will finally say we deserve human rights
“Can ChatGPT experience joy or suffering? Does Gemini deserve human rights?” our tech columnist asks. “Many A.I. experts I know would say no, not yet, not even close. But I was intrigued.”
Should We Start Taking the Welfare of A.I. Seriously?
As artificial intelligence systems become smarter, one A.I. company is trying to figure out what to do if they become conscious.

Spent my night making flyers for fighting censorship at work! And I actually managed to squeeze time in to practice guitar! I’m slowly getting better at sight reading sheet music… 🫠

Happy Independent Bookstore Day 📚

Not everyone can always get to their library. It’s important for kids, for people to build their home libraries. To discover books they love so much they reread them over and over and over again.

Enter one of the library’s greatest friends… the indie bookstore 💛

Tonight’s Solidarity Shabbat (pro-Palestine) at the synagogue I’m considering joining was absolutely lovely! I’m broke and don’t have milk or butter to bake my favorite things with, so I brought a bunch of ARCs (advanced reader copies) to give away instead. 💙📚

Writing my rally speech is fun especially when I can make sure I yell “Fuck You” at the cops.

Ahhh yess, the union finally makes it all public. Read and share widely!
