If you remember the 1970s movie Logan's Run, it is presented as a Sci-Fi dystopia. As a man in his mid-50s living in a real dystopia I can tell you living in opulence and decadence until you're 21 and then dying in a public spectacle does not sound all that bad.

I know that the Kelvin timeline has ended, but I honestly loved it. It was a distillation of the best parts of the TOS timeline. (Honestly does Spock need a deranged brother or a human stepsister?)
Tonight, watching all three movies I realized that even Demora Sulu exists in the Kelvin timeline.
