He/him. I know some things, but not all the things.
Basically retired from performing/public appearances. She didn’t even go to the RRHOF induction this month (White Stripes got in), though she sent some comments for Jack to read.

Nice—I mostly collected current back then (and rarely look at them anywhere anymore)—but rack packs at the Dixie Highway Toys R Us were always the big treat

Yeah, since I started in 1988, the Topps design from that year is still my platonic ideal for card design, so simple:

I’d know that border art anywhere—that’s 1988, the year I got into cards

Agreed—Taylor hitting the high “Black hole sun!”s behind Brandi was great.

She sang “Rusty Cage” with them at the RRHOF induction a couple weeks ago; I didn’t care for her vocal tone in the verses, but the high-register stuff, she was decent.

Did yours come along late enough you haven’t had to deal with Blippi? We got caught in the middle of the original guy’s biggest wave, and blecch.

And I think the seventies last until like 1982, maybe into 1983. I’d mark the Thriller album, maybe the summer movies (E.T., Tron, Blade Runner etc) as a cultural decade starter. By 1984 the 80s were in full flower.

Also, Kelly Link’s The Book of Love (kind of a mystical coming-of-age story) and Grady Hendrix’s Witchcraft for Wayward Girls (mild-level supernatural horror used to explore the social horror of unwed mothers’ homes pre-Roe)

Mary Robinette Kowal’s The Martian Contingency (the latest in her “Lady Astronaut series, which I always highly recommend); Madeline Miller’s Song of Achilles and Circe (older books I just got to); Hugh Howey’s Sand novels

Also enjoyed Atmosphere!

And for anyone who’s an audiobook fan, I highly recommend that format (though I believe it’s Audible exclusive)—the book’s quirks are handled really well by narrator Ray Porter and the sound design team

Concur! I did the audiobook early this year and loved it.

They suggested I might like to convert my vaccine-card selfie from 2021 to an oh-so-flattering look I can only describe as “white Shrek”

It’s up there with Alien vs Predator (“Whoever wins, we lose”)
