I don’t believe there is a cause for autism any more than there is a cause for being left handed or having red hair. It is a natural variation of the brain and is only ‘othered’ because there are fewer people with the variation than not. But still, as below, I wouldn’t care if there were one.
I want to live in a world where even if there's a "cause" of autism found, the answer would be "so?" But we don't live in that world, and that includes people on all parts of the political spectrum.

Also we inoculated these maple logs with shiitake mushroom spawn. With any luck, they’ll start producing in 12-18 months and will continue providing food for several years. Selling jewelry isn’t paying the bills these days, but mushrooms we can eat

You guys, I’ve had no luck conditioning my rawhide mallet. I’ve beat it on concrete corners, soaked it in warm water, filed, and even scored it with a utility knife to help break the shellac but it’s still hard as a rock and mars my metal. Anyone have any tips or success stories to share?
