A small collection of Deus Ex (2000) inspired/styled demos I've whipped up over the years. (including instrument samples ripped from the game's audio data)

The drum and bass rhythms in that game's soundtrack are so addicting, I love it :3

Here's all my recent #novemberworldbuilders Somatei lore in a thread, for accessibility :)

Well I got that guy! They're part of my semi-open species, Somatei :)
Oneir and their team are the cornerstone of Acseit city's border security; they keep track of dangerous animals, potential landslides and other events that might put the city at risk.

Many Somatei made their mark on society, but the oldest notable figure is the gentle ruler of the first Somatei. All we know about them comes from one of their followers' journal. They are believed to be part of the ancient people who built the soma beds and made the first lifestones.
We're talking about our fictional world's history this week, #NovemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about a ruler or leader who made an impact in your world. How are they remembered by those living in the future?
November 24, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Oh boy oh boy! There is indubitably forgotten craftsmanship and a long gone people in Somatei history, but they hardly have any information on them. These people made the first lifestones and built the soma beds that make Somatei life possible.
It's our next week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! The theme this week is HISTORY in your fictional worlds. To start off with: does your world have any ancient (perhaps long-lost) civilizations? Did they leave ruins behind? Does anyone know what happened to them?
November 24, 2025 at 8:51 AM
Festivals is a topic I haven't fleshed out yet, but Somatei do like to party! In Zintotel, they have an annual festival where they send floating paper lanterns on the lake.
Howdy, #NovemberWorldbuilders. What special events take place near the river/lake in your fictional world? Do they have any festivals or annual traditions? How do your characters engage with these events?
November 24, 2025 at 8:49 AM
A lot of somatei towns have water nearby.
Zintotel, the oldest somatei city, is built on the shore of a big lake, shared with a few fishing villages. The shores are safe and full of life, but the center is very deep and can have unpredictable currents which is why boats tend to hug the coastline.
Good day, #NovemberWorldbuilders! What settlements exist along the river or lake in your fictional world? Are they small? Big? A series of small villages or maybe one grandiose castle that dominates the area? Who lives and works around the water?
November 20, 2025 at 12:51 PM
There isn't one important lake, but bodies of water in general are used for fishing, algae farming and transport. Some caves' only access is through rivers. In such cases, the biggest challenge is always figuring out a way to go against the current to make round trips possible.
Alright, #NovemberWorldbuilders, this is the nichest of niche questions. If you have a notable lake/river in your world, how does it impact the economy? Do people fish from it? Are there any other resources they use? Maybe barges use it for transporting goods?
November 19, 2025 at 8:11 AM
Let's go with the whole Somatei species shall we :p Water has always been a primordial source of food, both directly through fishing and indirectly as without water, there would be no crops. Recent hydraulic systems are also using water in new ways, for elevators, mills and water gates.
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Let's talk about your MC today. What is their relationship with water like? Do they know how to swim? Have they ever caught a fish? Or is it just something that gets in the way during their long journey? Maybe they've never *seen* a body of water so big
November 19, 2025 at 8:06 AM
While there are many, the tzolot might be the cutest river denizens. These amphibious, high energy little hunters are kept as free roaming pets. They don't typically like cuddles but they do love scratches!
November 19, 2025 at 7:58 AM
In association with the belief that the World is a hollow, upside down tree, running water is considered to be its sap. Some speculate that it also contains the energy needed to form new souls, since there's no life without water nearby.
Hey there, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Tell me a story about your river/lake. Do the locals have any beliefs about it? A myth or legend or a tie to their religion? What makes this bit of water so important to their culture?
November 19, 2025 at 7:52 AM
Gotta wait till I make proper maps 🙈 All inhabited caves have a lake, river or some water source since no living thing can survive without it.
Welcome to our third week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! This time we're talking about important RIVERS or LAKES in our world! But, tbh, any sufficiently important body of water will do. Also, don't feel obliged to answer; sometimes I cover niche topics that aren't for everyone!
November 19, 2025 at 7:50 AM
Most somatei morals would be similar to mamy socialist ideas, they're just better at it :p Socially though, the concept of family is pretty different from ours: children are all technically adopted and stay with their parents for about 7 years only. Polycules of 3+ are also extremely frequent
What's up, #NovemberWorldbuilders peeps! Have you dared to get a little freaky with your worldbuilding? Does your fictional world's society believe something to be good or evil which societies on Earth (generally speaking) do not agree with? How did you come up with that idea?👀

Somatei have beliefs but no established religion. They are pacifists who care a lot for each other, meaning that cruelty is incredibly shocking to them. This can cause courts to issue harsh punishments, not because they think it's fair but because they don't know what to do with the culprits.
It's #NovemberWorldbuilders time! We're talking about the concepts of GOOD and EVIL in our fictional worlds this week. Tell me: what does your world's authoritative figures say about morality? Is there a church or governing body that tells people how to live? What do they command?

Since it's a semi-open species, every character is their own MC in a way ;)
Meico, however, refuses to be even an extra in anyone's story including their own. They settled as far away as they could to civilization and their ethics are "make sure travellers are safe and sound, then kick them out".

Somatei opinion differs a lot on the recent population boom following the discovery of lifestone fabrication. Was it progress or a mistake? A lot agree though that the first years of intensive production were reckless, as the overload of soma chambers caused many deformities in newborns.
Heya, #NovemberWorldbuilders. The last two days were for characters seen as pure good or evil. Now for the morally grey stuff: are there any historical figures or events that are debatable whether they were good or bad? Who are the controversial people/events in your world's history?

Somatei history notably doesn't have villains; the natural world already provides its fair share of danger and adventure. They understand that even a rampaging beast will act this way for a reason, though whatever that reason may be will not grant it any mercy.
Hello, #NovemberWorldbulders! We're talking about morality in our fictional worlds this week. Today's prompt is the opposite of yesterday's: are there any characters in your world's history/lore who are considered evil? Whether ontologically evil or someone who made bad choices. Who were they?
