this pretty much guarantees months and months of performative bullshit by Trump and Ellison and right wing media about how Netflix ownership would be a woke antitrust nightmare, but letting Larry and his nepobaby son dominate U.S. media would be a delightful, populist spritzer
It’s a Bidding War: Paramount Attempts Hostile Offer for Warner Bros.
David Ellison calls Netflix's $82.7 billion deal value an "inferior proposal" and tells Warners shareholders that his coalition promises $18 billion more in cash.

Two independent studies found that AI chatbots were better at persuading voters than political ads. The most persuasive bots also lied the most. This is something that humans working in psyops have known for decades. AI is psyops at scale. www.technologyreview.com/2025/12/04/1...

NEW: Elon Musk's Grok chatbot will, with minimal prompting, provide residential addresses of everyday Americans.

Prompts as simple as "[name] address" immediately returned accurate home addresses of private citizens — alongside other personal info we didn't ask for.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May was the lone opposition MP who voted to support Mark Carney’s government in a recent budget vote.

Now, she says that was a 'mistake.'

That's why I've been dying to talk to her. Tomorrow, she's obliging me.

The headline is milquetoast but the actual editorial is very much a full-throated condemnation of White House racism

1. BREAKING

President Trump says he is granting a pardon to Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda.

Federal prosecutors said they accepted around $600,000 from an oil-and-gas company wholly owned and controlled by the government of Azerbaijan and a bank in Mexico.

Pete Hegseth blames “the fog of war” for blowing up 2 survivors clinging to the wreckage of a “suspected” boat carrying drug.
Aside from the fact that the boat could have been a fishing vessel, as no proof has ever been shown to the public.
Can we be sure it’s not the fog of tequila? #USDemocracy

We have a white supremacist government determined to terrorize and disenfranchise people of color. It's obvious. We need to say it, and we need to stop it.
BERMAN: How many of the 40,000 people born in Somalia living in Minnesota do you consider to be garbage?

McLAUGHLIN: We're really looking at the data

BERMAN: All of them?

McLAUGHLIN: This is not about politics. This is about public safety. We saw the terrorist attack against us last week.

I'm sympathetic to the idea that progressives need to rethink procedural barriers to getting things done, and that this a crucial moment for American government. But we are witnessing a shift to authoritarianism right now. American needs not just a theory of power but also theory of accountability.

My hot take is that I don't give a fuck if someone without disabilities gets an accommodation. They get a slightly better grade on a test? Tests are just part of a grade or portfolio and also, who FUCKING CARES. I care that a disabled person isn't *penalized* for needing more time.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Every word that demeans us, dehumanizes us. So much easier to cast some as undeserving of civil rights.
Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."
