*right in. Also this is why all academic workers need to unionize. It protects instructors and workers from the violence and bigotry in the admin -- and protects students too, because you know you're being taught by somebody with rights and protection who can help you do your best work.

And the weakness of university administrators has every bit as much to do with this as the specific ideological hobbyhorses of the GOP, which is why it is a problem not only in the US but wherever universities are run as businesses by wannabe CEOs.

Academic freedom isn't the chance or momentary absence of specific political directives on what or how to teach academic subjects, any more than rule of law is everybody choosing to behave. It's the principle that such directives can't be issued and won't be acted upon by academic administrators.

Christine died in 2008 from AIDS defining illness.

The Foo Fighters deleted all references to AWWAA and Maggiore in 2007, and have not, to my knowledge, ever spoken of their role in shaping disastrous policy based on ignorance and science denialism.
