You know, I think a lot of problems "Fantasy Heart Breakers" have is that D&D was originally made with Pulp Sword and Sorcery in mind. Fast action heavy fiction. Its why Combat rules are most of D&Ds mechanics. But there are other types of fantasy, but scarce few big names want to build for that.

This is your occasional reminder that, if you like Neil Gaiman's stuff, but can't bring yourself to like it anymore for justifiable reasons, Tanith Lee is the author he is credibly accused of extensively cribbing from, and her work is on Audible, and AMAZING.

Reforms polls look good, but compared with the historic polling of the two main parties, its pretty meh. They're sitting bellow 30%, but the 2nd place party always tended to hover around this amount. Much like Labour last election, Reform aren't winning so much as everyone else is loosing.

As some of you know, I've toyed around with the idea of an Early Bronze Age world. And I had the thought that this does not necessarily mean you can't use Post Bronze age gear. You just need to make them loot from a bygone civilization. So you can have one Great Sword that's a 1000 years old.

I read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde recently, and my main take away is this. People think this story is Bruce Banner and the Hulk. In reality it is Eminem and Slim Shady.

My partner has been talking about taking the next logical step from their Homebrewing, making their own game. Their using Call of Cthulhu as a base, but with the following changes:
- Str & Size combined
- Pow & Con combined into Endurance
- Int & Edu combined into Intuition
- Dex renamed Agility

For the longest time I've had three stereotypes about Indy TTRPGs in my mind:
- Flying/Space Whales
- Abandoned Malls
- Using Tarot instead of dice
But I'm beginning to think that first one isn't as substantiated as the other two...

If anyone knows any Indy TTRPGs with Sky Whales let me know!

In my partners current game we're playing in a vaguely early modern setting, but I'm playing an Arthurian Knight who's been frozen in ice for 100 years. So people are always like "damn you've got such old-time values", meanwhile everyone is acting like its the 16 Hundreds. It's funny.

Having finished the series I can wholeheartedly say it is one of the best Fantasy series Ive read. Mythic, evocative, but at the same time rooted in sincere human struggles. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Fantasy thats more about the heart than cool action scenes (not that those are bad!)
Over half way done the last book of Tanith Lee's Tales from the Flat Earth series. I will be sad to be done with this series. It is such a rich and mythic exploration of how we find meaning in life. I may post again when I've finished the series. I'll see.
