I’m the opposite of stagestruck (& have minus acting talent anyway) but if I were an actor I’d want Mary Woronov’s career, just doing my cult films & sometimes getting to send up Hollywood romantic conventions by being onscreen-married to my gay best friend.
Images from films in which Mary Woronov speaks on the phone

Woronov was BOTD in 1943

Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972)
Sugar Cookies (1973)
Hollywood Boulevard (1976)

More on SAIC's shameful treatment of the Video Data Bank.
The School of the Art Institute Turned Its Back on Media Arts
Instead of engaging in dialogue with its dedicated Video Data Bank staff, SAIC chose to callously cross out a budgetary line item.

Just watched Silver Streak & realized that for decades now I’ve continually vaguely confused it with Midnight Run. The movie itself actually reminds me of Foul Play which was maybe my favorite film in the world when I was 8 years old so a good choice for a quiet Sunday.

After a hiatus back reading Emily Dickinson’s letters. Her accounts of how her father & brother Austin couldn’t be under the same roof without fighting & the former lecturing everyone incessantly as the world’s premier politics- & literature-knower, well, humanity never changes much does it.

I always enjoy artistic discourse that always ends up being another variation on “would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone?” & whose answer is always another variation on “if her name is Anita Pallenberg she’s hardly asking your permission.”

Scorsese interview: Man isn't meant to have immortality. He did that to himself, that's what the church taught me. But maybe if you promise you're only gonna use your eternal life to make art it should be okay. I don't know.
Tarantino interview: Keanu Reeves should have been stillborn.

This short film about some of the Vietnamese refugees employed as extras in Apocalypse Now is very good anyway, but entirely worth it just for the part where two of them agree "yeah, except for our scene the movie kinda sucks."

Chicagoans will pay $76 per person this year for police misconduct settlements.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Re the Ivies jumping into ay-aye, wouldn’t be shocked if in the next few decades we see new “by humans for humans” colleges founded that slowly supplant them as the “elite” institutions of choice. They may not even stay libertarian-rightist any more than the Ivies are still Christian-sectarian.
The sheer number of Silicon Valley tech families I know who would immediately sign up lol. Nobody enforces no screens as much as that crowd. I regularly get death stares because I park my kid with Miss Rachel when he gets restive in restaurants lol.
The first school to market itself as AI free is going to corner the market on people interested in actually learning. And I would not be surprised if rich families and the children of people creating this tech were the first movers.
