Woke up this morning to sounds I had never heard before at the cottage… Turns out it’s rain mixed with tiny beads of ice! A perfect day to not have to go anywhere, just stay inside, finish my article, and then do relaxing indoor activities. I definitely need the rest, ouchie. Stay warm, friends! ❄️

This is the kind of stuff I get up to for the kind senior lady: painting the nicks on her dining room table with black chalk paint, fixing/polishing a broken lamp, and detailing her car. My editor also gave me a fast turnaround article already this month! I am extremely exhausted, but feeling proud.

This is a lovely little lamp that has brass details and a porcelain shade. It needed a new lightbulb. I needed to fix the metal part that holds up the shade. I can’t remember what it’s called, and I tried to polish the brass funnel with ketchup, but it didn’t work, and I also needed to reset the mechanical timer so that it would come on and off for herdusk to Dawn Here I am outside and using my cool water vac that I got at Dollar General actually too remove the dust and dirt from her car mats Selfie of me sitting at my desk at home smiling wearing my favorite red flannel. Guess what I woke up to!! ❄️
The delight of whipping open my curtains in the morning & seeing snow falling everywhere. Had to make a run to the grocery store to get a money order for rent and saw a lady who looked cold too, I said “brrr!” and she’s like, “chyeah! I’m from Florida! This sucks!” 😂

Whew! Today was my 5th time working for the awesome senior lady. Very, very windy today. Got home, enjoyed the Thanksgiving plate that my landfolks brought back for me yesterday, and promptly took a 3 hour nap! Got up and did some tai chi stretches; Miss Moon saw & was like, “oh are we swimming??”
This is the little white shelf that’s above my art desk, it’s got three snowy faux trees, and three small felt colorful birds dressed up for the winter, there’s also a shadow box of a snowman with a little bit of polyfil for the snow. My aunt makes these shadowboxes with her watercolors.

I got the vintage bubble lights to work! I found this guy who repairs all things retro on YouTube & he perfectly explained how to get them going. When they finally started bubbling, I was beside myself with joy! I haven’t seen these since I was a tiny tot. I’ll get the others installed tomorrow. 🥹

Ready for Christmas! 🎄
Fish Islands view of my Christmas tree, it’s in front of my bookcases next to my house plants in my fish tank, I went for a white and silver theme this year. The tree is about 3 feet tall I guess, it’s glowing. A picture of my feet propped up on my recliner. I’ve got a glass of almond milk. I’m watching and listening to one of those 10 hour fireplace with Christmas Jazz videos. You could see the lamp and also my tiny lit up Christmas tree village on the windowsill and my dollhouse to the left.

It took a bit longer for these whole flowerheads to dry (vs. the fast-drying mint and mallow leaves) but my Calendula, or pot marigold, is ready to be infused into grapeseed oil and then turned into an anti-inflammatory & antioxidant skin-healing salve for my eczema. Nature’s medicine cabinet!

G’mornin! I woke up & decided to do something entirely different today. I’m not going to a farmhouse packed with 23 members of one family. Instead, I’m going to have a relaxing, quiet day at the cottage here doing exactly what I want to do. Maybe a nap, but plenty of rest, because I sorely need it.

Not sure where is found the spoons (and truthfully maybe dissociated from my body a bit to do so) but I managed to wrangle the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, whip up some surprisingly affordable & delicious green chili chicken & cheese enchiladas, and start a load of laundry. But now, I can rest!
A clear rectangular Pyrex pan of chicken and cheese, enchiladas with green tomatillo or chili sauce. It’s all bubbly and melting and crusty and very delicious. Here it is on the plate with a sprinkling of pico de gallo and a dollop of sour cream

Very cozy morning here. It’s a little dreary, but all I have to do today is household tasks and drive to & fro my haircut, so that’s ok. I just found a channel that does 10 hour long charming videos of dogs going on walks with gentle music. Delightful!

Slept like a rock & feel refreshed. I received a work opportunity email yesterday that confounded me but after sleeping on it, I have an excellent reply, so I’m glad I waited. Today will be laundry & working on my article due tomorrow evening. Mother Nature is already decorating for the holidays! 🎋

Just 1 job now, but that’s better than none, by far. Losing the thrift store job bc I physically can’t do it (7 yrs since I worked outside the home) led to all day crying, then migraine + food poisoning like symptoms. Can’t remember the last time I was so sick I had to crawl into bed. But, onwards.
I took my tray of garden soup and veggie and rice, lemonade and rice cup outside because it’s so unseasonably warm for November. It’s nice. This is a selfie of me. It’s hard for me to share a picture of myself when I don’t look good, but here I am on my chin, dark circles under my eyes hair that needs to be washed. Extremely tired, but not giving up.

I gave up drinking years ago and sometimes I miss having a fancy little cocktail for the fun flavors. Well, I tried this the other day and it was delicious! It also has one of my favorite herbs in it, lemon balm, and was a very relaxing, tasty drink overall. Highly recommend. ☁️ ✨

Look at the charming little scene I woke up to. Things are a bit chaotic over here! One opportunity = no-go, an interview went well, thrift store day 1 has been switched to tomorrow, I have to shop for pants & long sleeve for that shift, and tomorrow is: my first shift, then hair appt, then therapy.
I forgot to button up the chickens last night, so this morning I woke up to the hens out in the yard in my flower bed, and a glorious morning sunrise, putting a soft yellow glow over the frosty landscaped

Can’t explain it, but there are now 4 potential (current/possible) employment opportunities on my plate right now! I’m very overwhelmed. The good news is I had a blast cleaning at the senior lady’s house. 😌 But my new thrift store manager was annoyed I couldn’t get paperwork done while doing so? 🤨
Just a little bathroom selfie at CVS at the end of a long but fulfilling day. I’m wearing my favorite red flannel shirt, my green quilted canvas purse, my hair is very fluffy and I’m tired but proud of the work I got done for the senior lady today.

This isn’t been on my to-do list for a while, and it was not easy to get the seaweed to cooperate in my tiny food processor, but I present to you homemade nori komi furikake! It’s very simple; just roasted seaweed, sugar, sesame, seeds, and salt. I love this seasoning. Put it on all sorts of stuff.

Did you know nutmeg is loaded with antioxidants and minerals like manganese and copper that can support digestion, relaxation, and reducing inflammation? I sprinkled a tiny bit in my coffee today and it’s so tasty, warming, and cozy I’ll definitely be doing this again. ☕️
