食べてるのが何の実かわからなかったので調べたらムクノキの実のよう。温暖な地域の木なので北海道では見なかったな。
I didn’t know what kind of fruit it was eating, but after checking I found it seems to be from the muku tree (Aphananthe aspera). Since this tree grows in warmer regions, I never saw it in Hokkaido.

高速で舌を出し入れして何か食べていたアオゲラ。後ろから見ると北海道のヤマゲラとは違って頭の赤がうなじまで伸びている。

北海道では見かけなかったタヒバリだけど、ここ関東ではありふれた冬鳥のよう。
I had never seen a water pipit in Hokkaidō, but here in the Kanto region it seems to be a common winter bird.🪶

カワセミがいつも頭を上下させているのはなぜだろう。水中を見やすいように、という説明を見たことがあるけれど、水中を見ていない時でも上下してるしなぁ。
I wonder why kingfishers are always bobbing their heads up and down. I’ve seen the explanation that it helps them see better into the water, but they do it even when they’re not looking at the water.🤔

先週末遭遇したカマキリ。カメラを近づけると威嚇してきたがその動きはもうかなり鈍くなっていた。そろそろ霜が降りそうな季節。
The praying mantis I met last weekend. When I brought the camera closer, it threatened me, but its movements had already become quite sluggish. It is about the season when frost is likely to fall.
