After spending 20 years being surgery averse, two gender affirming surgeries has definitely changed that

I love to be able to read about others' post-op experiences to confirm that things I notice are common experiences

Dead Elders is out now on all streaming platforms.

This is a song of honor for queer and trans elders who fought tirelessly for us to have a future and a call to action to continue the fight. Please stream and buy on Bandcamp (today's Bandcamp Friday)

Since I'm home sick and X-Twitter may soon expect me to pay for access, I am going to recreate this here: 🎢 ⚛️

Trying to sort out results from genetic testing for EDS with an intro bio level understanding of genetics is wild

I should not have ordered pottery tools until I was recovered enough to get back in the studio

Just got my partner and I signed up for the final pottery class offered by our studio. Last step before we can apply to be members!

Spent my first day home alone since surgery and was able to be mostly on the couch instead of in bed. Huge quality of life difference

Perks of a post-op appointment in New Haven is my partner suggesting pizza for lunch 🥰

Just over two weeks post-op, getting a lot more self-sufficient, grabber still needed to pick things up off the floor, still living more horizontal than vertical, already a few inches into a new knit sweater
November 30, 2025 at 6:19 PM
I think I managed to work out how to correct the error in the knitting pattern I'm working from. Otherwise having a good time with bubble stitches
November 29, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Used the proper needles this time and still did not get a matching gauge without blocking. Maybe this will be the first time I ever block a swatch
November 27, 2025 at 3:16 PM
Cannot believe that I knit a whole gauge swatch on a needle size smaller than I planned on

insurance came through, for really real, so Operation: Thanksgiving Pie is a GO

we still really need a bunch of help covering our bills while I recover, I'm the only income supporting my family of 4

please donate and boost 💜🙏
whether I get in for next week, or have to wait for January, I'm my family's only source of income, and my PTO will run out long before I'm recovered enough to return to work

thank fuck for FMLA, but we'll still need to pay bills for like 6 weeks without income

please help 🙏🙏🙏

Recovery has been a bit more intense than I expected, but it has also been a big mentality change in the best way

11/26, this might really be happening in less than a week

I'm dying from the waiting, anxiety and excitement through the roof

please insurance, don't fuck me over, I fucking need this

and we still need a bunch more help to cover our future bills, so please help, however much, or even just boost 🙏

No more drains or catheter!

I still think the funniest thing before my surgery was that they asked for a urine sample and it was solely to do a pregnancy test

I love living in an era where I have immediate access to surgical notes
November 19, 2025 at 3:12 PM
I might try writing something about this eventually, but I really had the proverbial stars align for me to medically transition. I managed to get a union job at a state institution that allowed me to proceed with procedures in a way that I did not even have to weigh financial considerations at all
November 18, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Definitely have never spent this much time in bed in my life
November 17, 2025 at 10:28 PM
A pregnancy pillow has been a life saver during recovery as someone that has never been able to sleep on their back
November 16, 2025 at 6:00 PM
And I'm already home
Supposedly everything went well with the surgery and I'm in a private room for the night 😁
