We could resolve this moral crisis by requiring that big businesses either fund government benefits doubly or triply proportionate to the number of employees using them or provide fully livable wages with benefits to all employees.

To whom? I would argue that for our wealthy founders, dodging taxes maintained primacy even over their ideals of liberty for all. The tyranny was sold as the threat to the common foot soldier but keeping their profits - human and otherwise - ultimately drove the planners.

Charities are inundated with ´generous’ donations of dusty, silverfish-ridden, musty book garbage that have to be sorted from good stuff and disposed of, just to earn maybe $1 for a good book. I 100% understand the groan when someone comes in with loads of books and expects to be lauded.
