Are you sure Reagan wasn’t a RINO?!

Hire more traffic cops from the displaced workers of the trade war. Seems like an opportunity as much as it’s a risk. Of course the PC’s won’t do that, that’s why NDP or LPO need to win.

Agreed, the government needs to ensure the proper protocols are in place and followed as well. Otherwise people forget that immigration is good. Give me 60 million Canadians by 2050 please.

This is probably the most well written analysis Ive seen on this subject. You should probably write for a blog or something.

One thing that came to mind is how you mention that “his faith community is important to him”. I would take it a touch further, his faith community is existential to him.

Fair enough. I appreciate your willingness to engage on this!
August 29, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Much like this I guess. It’s a gross debate to be had to be sure. But the truth isn’t always convenient.

I only said everything should be on the table when it comes to election strategy. In the great American Culture War, is now a time to fight to maintain the gains that were made, or to try to take more land. Maybe your view is that the Dems are in full retreat? I get it’s a bit Machiavellian.
August 29, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Ok, I get that and that’s not what I’m arguing for. Given the severity of the times, I’m arguing for callous strategic thought to ensure the dems are the party in power to be able to rebuild and protect the institutions that support those very civil rights in the first place.

I didn’t imply anything about Kamala’s campaign. My central point is whether or not this is a point worthy of debate with the Democratic Party given the current context of American politics. Apologies if this is an overly analytical thought. I think it should be debated and discussed.
August 29, 2025 at 5:03 PM
I respect the rights and freedoms you have to hold this opinion. I hope you still have those rights and freedoms in the years to come.
August 29, 2025 at 4:51 PM
Apparently this person didn’t want a discussion after all 🤷🏻‍♂️
August 29, 2025 at 4:45 PM
But I do believe this is the debate to be had from the shit I’m seeing on the outside.

Republicans are better at playing the long game than the Dems, have been for a while now. That’s why they control the Supreme Court. Newsom appears to be the only dem Politician that is pivoting.

A democracy with sub-par trans rights in the short term is better than an autocracy with zero trans rights for generations to come. Unfortunately, sometimes the current context doesn’t play nice with our goals. Life sucks and it ain’t fair.
August 29, 2025 at 4:38 PM
I take no position on what should be in the Dems platform re: trans rights. I’m not American. But I say this as someone who lives outside the American media bubble. Every single American needs to be laser focused on what is happening to democracy in the US and the consequences for the big picture.
August 29, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Biden actions to name a few:
-execute order on LGTB protections
-lifted Trump trans military ban
-restored healthcare protections
-passport gender marker changes
-gender affirming care changes for veterans
-fought state laws restricting trans rights.
August 29, 2025 at 4:32 PM
I thinkk you need to check your facts on the Biden admin. Good luck at the next election cycle. I sure hope
You have a republic to argue over when it’s all said and done.
August 29, 2025 at 4:14 PM
1. I think the Dems did a lot for trans rights during Biden

2. It’s not about throwing trans people under the bus, it’s about how central the focus is on party platform.

3. Dems have not already lost the upcoming midterms, which is the absolute most imperative election in our lifetimes atm
August 28, 2025 at 2:46 PM
I don’t disagree. But let me offer the “unreasonable” other side is the potential for election losses to psycho republicans. In that context debate is needed. So how do you balance the need to protect trans rights while being competitive in the next two election cycles.
August 28, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Yah get your ass up to Canada
August 28, 2025 at 2:18 PM
America, it’s getting worse. Wake up, before you wake up to a dictatorship. All the signs are right in front of your poorly educated eyes to see. There’s been a constant and consistent deterioration of democratic institutions under Trump, free speech is next apparently.

I mean, republican control of congress and the senate might have held some shit back too during his term? He blew all his political capital on ACA no? Lost the super majority, and the institutions of no change took over

Nice authoritarian regime you got there
