Oh is THAT why when I saw death by lightning (great show btw) the end had a dumb, disconnected monologue by one of the leads where they laid out clearly the point of the show and it’s like “yeah lady we know we don’t need this spelled out” just realized that must’ve been a Netflix note wasn’t it 😂😅😓

I love that the first Trump admin’s “Y’all Quaeda” has evolved to this 2.0 era (no we really mean it this time!) “Nerd Reich”. It’s as fitting as “Make America Great Again” is a perfect fascist slogan. I’ll read that book!!

It was for a weed-based show & he was already smoking so I asked him to blow into the camera and he said in his fun, spazzy, terrifying gravely voice “Ain’t that a bit clichéd?” and I was like “yes tricky you’re so right” and I practically started bowing and walking backwards outta the room 😂

(ETA: I think it’s a fear of the void or the unknown or something like that. And you’re right - being younger helps you not have had that fear so much yet. When I was the same age I was working in film distribution startup & I photographed Tricky for a promo thing and he floored me -

I think I both really admire that steadfast work ethic toward a tough pursuit like that and I also don’t trust it at all. The possible reward always feels so implausible.
I think - with anything - sports or art etc - it’s more of a head game & stamina than even what the output is.

pursuit and then I pull fully back and stop what I’ve been pursuing. But then I keep trying over and over in different (different mediums, different art forms etc) to pursue whatever it is I want to express & the same thing happens again. Huh. Good thing to consider in therapy!

Yeah I don’t think I have a full deficiency in confidence, but there’s always something in me when I get too ahead of my skis on something I want to do or create or make happen, I have something in me that sees pursuing a dream relentlessly in the face of very high emotional stakes as a narcissistic

I’m sure you can’t comment on this but I just wanna say - tho many are upset about Netflix buy Warner, I think they’d be better stewards of the HBO / Warner library and on that note selfishly tho I’m anti-monopoly etc I think they’re staffed with folks who might be good advocates for a certain 🧜♀️🦄🍊🏴☠️🧜
