Maybe I’ve been living in touch with grass too much, but is Loesch “a thing” bigly in conservative spaces now?

Right Wing fantasies about what “Leftist” scholars research and what university employment is like are … fascinating.

All we're missing are some words like complexify and analyzation, and her writing could get up to the level of some of some intro undergrad students...

Sometime in the next week we may hear that Weiss hired Nuzzi to be the VP of News, Source Outreach, and Ethics at CBS.

One thing the moral panic against fake Cancel Culture accomplished was making it so we can’t have the Cancel Culture that’s needed for assholes like Summers (or MTG). They can say sorry. Fine. But they’ve done so much damage. Time for no one to platform or empower them ever again. We don’t need them

Nice thread. I replied to Adam too on his latest FB post. Pointed us in the PWP volume are also the PWJ scholars. Also, it’s difficult to say that the idea of Paul expecting Jewish believers still to obverse the law is newfangled post-Holocaust when it’s how Acts 21:17-26 presents him. 🤷‍♂️

Preach it! I've given up on major legacy media reporting truthfully about these folks' mission to sexually exploit young people. But I refuse to give up on our ministers clearly and loudly condemning such misogynist and rape-culture evil. We need a Word from pulpits tomorrow morning!

Oh and I meant to say Entry or Enthusiast level components on my first reply! You don't need Force AXS level. That's expensive as heck.

My advice presumes that your 'long rides' are long enough that you don't just want a flat-bar hybrid bike like you'd probably find hanging from a rack in Walmart. But if you're just talking 10-15 miles rides, a comfortable Hybrid bike with very low level components would be fine.
November 15, 2025 at 8:44 PM
You want a drop-bar, and not flat-bar bike, Endurance or Gravel bike. That will let you have wider tires (30mm or wider), which will make things more comfortable, while still being fast enough for your long rides. Look for the Mid or Enthusiast level components (see pic). We can talk tires later...

Would love to see these overly online bros try to write anything without ChatGPT now. Or even be able to sit in one of my into classes and closely read 1-2 pages of a text and then make substantive observations about it.

I’d say that her open antisemitism and Jewish space lasers, stalking victims of school shootings, vigorously defending GOP sexual predators like Gaetz in public, promoting of QAnon, spreading anti vax talking points, talking Chem Trails, defending the Jan 6th insurrectionists …running out of space…

For last day, I've been working very hard to restrain myself from writing a piece abt the American Right and their Groomer Bible for like @religiondispatches.org. Point isn't that "they got it from the Bible," but more a history of how sexually exploiting kids gets normalized, erased, and justified.

OMG, who ever could have foreseen this consequence?!
November 15, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Here we go. The story is completely off the top of the NYT this morning.

We are so far beyond the point of major media being actively complicit in Trump/GOP lies and mass harm when they "report" on whatever stated Trump/GOP plans without the main emphasis being Trump's histories of lying, bait-and-switch, and saying whatever he thinks sounds good in the moment.
November 14, 2025 at 2:58 PM
It's absolutely the norm in our field for scholars, often senior ones, to publicly direct their ire at people trying to de-platform the reputaion of known sexual predators, not at the sexual predators. The "but his work?!" and "Don't let his mistakes define him" is beyond predictable. 🤮
Love the Scholarship But Hate the Scholar’s Sin?: 'Himpathy' for an Academic Pedophile Enables a Culture of Abuse
In her excellent book Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny, the philosopher Kate Manne coined the term Himpathy, which she defined as “the excessive sympathy sometimes shown toward male perpetrators of se...

Mainstream Media's response to evidence that the President knew about and participated in a pedophile ring is to (checks notes) normalize the sex-trafficking of kids. If this isn't an abject professional and moral failure by our legacy media class, what is? [Oh wait, they've got a long list going]
November 13, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Not to be old-fashioned and all, but I'm old enough to remember several months ago when GOPers had a multi-generation moral panic about the dangers of "Big Government interference in private industry."

It’s easy to overlook the usual filler. And I approve not devoting too much time to Dreher!
November 12, 2025 at 2:37 AM
All good points. But my gawd, Dreher and the conservative ecosystem have turned decades of Foxnews bullcrap into (fake) reality.
November 12, 2025 at 2:34 AM
Media allowing reality to get in the way of their GOP propaganda work?
