I have had a recurring dream about my dog, Ruby, lecturing me about Dialistic Materialism. It’s weird, because I never imagined she was so the political sort. She goes from Hegel to Marx and Lenin and on and on. She’s a very intelligent dog who has clearly gotten in to my reading material.

When I adopted Ruby about 13 years ago, I got the Wisdom Panel test. I guessed she was predominantly Pit Bull, but it turned out that she’s 50% Australian Shepherd, 25% Schnauzer and 25% Heinz 57 Dog. Only about 5% was American Staffordshire Terrier. DNA is wild.

I have to eat some crow here. The new registration cards do include an affiliation. I have never, ever put an affiliation on my registration. Look at the vertical part next to the address. This is new to me. If they want to me to fill that blank, I’ll tell them to go to hell or write independent.
