still cannot believe there was no penalty on Samoskevich here right before the Rodrigues goal. It isn't like this is away from the play or in a scrum with a bunch of players.

comparable defencemen to Brandt Clarke by goals/60 and primary assists/60 at 5v5 since the start of last season. seems good?

San Jose PP1 QB update:
with Orlov (30+ mins): 123 attempts/60, 10.7 xG/60, 11.9 GF/60

with Klingberg (~61 mins): 94 attempts/60, 6.6 xG/60, 4.9 GF/60

over San Jose's last 10 games, they are *breaking even* by goal differential with Klingberg on the ice for the power play (4 GF, 4GA)

it's always easy (and appropriate) to make fun of Boston's drafting in 2015, but when I watch this, it's hard not to think about what Barzal would have looked like alongside Barkov in FLA or Robertson in DAL

truly something special here from the Blues: they had too many men on the ice as STL22 (Suter) was changing for STL18 (Thomas), more or less had a 6v3 over Boston, and still gave up a 2-on-1 that led to Steeves' goal.

“Well,”

Not to put too much on one player, but this is a graph of Montreal's cumulative 5v5 xG share this season with a 3-game rolling average. The red line is their first game after the Kirby Dach injury.

uh, hrm, everything ok, trav?

man alive this is a hell of an effort from Charlie Coyle. Uses his feet so well here to keep the forecheck going
November 29, 2025 at 2:39 PM
since the start of the 2023-24 season, Tyson Foerster's 0.92 goals/60 at 5v5 is easily a top-line rate. Also, his closest comps by @evolving-hockey.com's xG and goal RAPM measures in that span are Aho, PLD, Forsberg, and Barzal

the way I laughed sitting in line this morning at the drive thru, I'm just thankful there was no one around me

like, there was a lot of bad across the team, but this is one of the most incredible Controller Disconnected sequences you'll ever see.
Ekholm has an awful turnover, sure, but Savoie (#22) literally does not take a stride from the opposing blue line to his own hash marks. 80 feet of gliding.

took a spin through @allthreezones.bsky.social tracking data to see how teams have changed their offensive approach from last year. here are each team's change in rush offence/60 and cycle+forecheck offence/60 at 5v5 compared to last year:

man alive this backhand alley-oop from AJ Greer is absolutely preposterous
November 25, 2025 at 12:34 PM
4) Hamonic with just a brutal giveaway that leaves Talbot out to dry
November 25, 2025 at 12:17 PM
3) two Devils in front, two Red Wings with them, and nary a stick tie-up to be seen
November 25, 2025 at 12:16 PM
2) Chiarot not only doesn't cover anyone, but he sets up a perfect screen on Talbot (???) for Hischier's goal
November 25, 2025 at 12:15 PM
maybe Detroit should have won the game last night anyway, but man alive these goals against are something else
1) for some reason, both Compher and Hamonic peel off to leave Meier alone in front (???) who tips in the point shot

not sure why but this slide from Emil Andrae got a real good chuckle out of me
