If I’m being honest I was underwhelmed. It’s such a wholesome and interesting story but I wanted more inter-connectedness with Ichinoi and Urara. And Ichinoi is the more interesting of the duo too. It’s fine but methinks it had some overhype lol.

Most of these donghuas are advertisements for the novel they cannot fully adapt (yet). I like the pairing dynamic here and love that it's the most battle wuxia of her works. The OP tries to sell you on something else but it's still "gotta fuck this ancient powerful old man"

idk but if you have a BL love triangle where guy a is a massive abusive prick and guy b is the friend to lover trope that would have been a subversive endgame but the MC ends up with guy a anyway cuz he can't help it, then at least don't make it boring. Boring, boo to that ending!

The colors in the manga are just very nice once S2 hits (very winter-core BL, seasonal colors get to me ok). On the other hand, I kinda miss black and white manhwa. Some still exist certainly when it shifted here I felt it lol!

I did laugh at the abrupt cliffhanger at the end of the season that effects the stoic captain player. And I do like that this is a rag tag underdog group. And of course, inter team rivalry is my spo-kon kink nowadays. Mo Yun/Xingze Xu intrigue me. Also, old man teacher yaoi?!

Unrelated - Donghuas tend to have a conga line of promos. Cinderella Chef has this bombastic one for Yuewen Entertainment where they show clips of their series in the spelling of the name. It got to the point I needed answers. This was the first thing I saw for their 220+ ep CGI donghua.
