I mostly ramble about trivial nerd stuff, but I'm also on a Bluesky list for "angry politics." My politics are that bigots should fall into a deep, empty well. He/Him.

I hate when people go "Well, we're *culturally* Christian, and so are you even if you're not religious," especially because what they're ascribing to "Christian values" is basic decency, and pretending that none of that "treat other people decently" isn't in any other religious texts.

(Denmark has a state religion like the UK, and it's so fucking embarrassing. 2025, and we still have the government recognizing one particular religion as the true one, on fucking paper)

This was when I thought when I saw the headline. Like, did the UK turn into a theocracy when I wasn't paying attention? Is religious dogma officially a factor in government policy now?

I mean, at least with early Sierra games, I have visuals, so I can contend a bit more with the latter problem.

I don't think death around every corner really adds to a genre where exploration and experimentation is the main game mechanic.

My mind doesn't really conjure images from reading, so I find text adventures disorienting, especially something like Zork that literally centers around underground mazes.

Hell, I'm not fond of graphic adventure mazes, either - except when the solution isn't actually mapping out the damn thing. Like, the forest in Monkey Island 1 is a "good" maze, because it's actually a puzzle about figuring out the dance instructions. Vs., eg, the damn light berry maze in Kyrandia 1

I got it on GOG many years later, and yeah, even having only properly played GI and Return, Nemesis feels really out of place.
