Private equity firms have been buying up single family homes for years and making them short term rentals, thereby reducing available housing stock. They are creating the housing shortage. Immigrants are not buying homes; they can't find reasonable rentals either. Blame greedy private equity guys.

Why don't we build 1200sf starter homes for first time homebuyers. It's what our parents and grandparents started with. A starter home now days is considered 2500sf. 3-4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, chef's kitchen with granite tops and professional appliances.
