I've only ever heard it used in 2 contexts:
1. catastrophic phone malfunction wherein it needs to be replaced (the phone becomes a brick).
2. with "up" added; the first time I ever heard this version was watching a youtuber in destiny 2 saying he was "bricked up" because they call them ammo bricks..

Which wraps back around to Bloodborne with Fire being a counter to Beasts, and Elden Ring with the Frenzied Flame as a destroyer of Big Tree.

This is not to say the Dark Souls mythos is unappealing; it has its charms what with the whole Undead and Bone keywords and it does cool things with Dark and Lightning. You can see as far back as DS1 how they built Tree into the mythos, but it's mostly there in service to Big Fire.

I love Bloodborne too but all motfis were ones I grew to love (I wasn't keen on cosmic or gothic horror until BB). I've been drawing weird trees with eyes and mouths and such since I was a kid.
