Vague "new" evidence. ✅

Runs counter to a large & robust body of evidence exploring risks / benefits. ✅

Aligned with fearmongering antivaxx BS rhetoric. ✅

🚨 My new piece: increasingly, vaccine hesitancy tied to political identity www.thestar.com/opinion/cont... via @thestar.com

Vaccines are a wedge issue, exploited by politicians to garner votes, by political commentators to build brands and by online influencers to get clicks.

On measles and vaccines, Canada can’t keep ignoring the elephant in the room
Study after study has shown that political affiliation is one of the single strongest predictors of vaccination status.

Vaccine hesitancy isn't just for humans, we see impacts on pets too.

There's some overlap between hesitancy for human and animal vaccines, but also some different issues and reasons.

It's complex.

But, what are the disease implications.

1) Subverting established vaccine review process

2) Data are cherry-picked to fit a predetermined narrative.

4) Diseases downplayed

5) It’s all about “informed consent.”

Although PS-matched analyses indicated small increases in risk, sensitivity analyses suggested that unmeasured confounding, misclassification and other biases may partially explain these associations.

Autism is a complex condition with no one cause.

But we already have a strong understanding of what’s driving its increased incidence, that isn’t a mystery.

We’re better at screening for it. And common risk factors (environmental, genetics, older maternal and paternal age) are rising.
