That is beautiful knitting! But here, we call that a vest. Here's what we call a tank top! They're usually much thinner and stretchy. People wear them alone in summer or as undershirts year round!

Originally from Texas: a vest is usually a button up or zippered sleeveless garment intended to be worn over a sleeved shirt. Can also be a sleeveless sweater without buttons/zipper, i.e. sweater vest.
