Hey look, the UK’s Online Safety Act is resulting in the targeting of queer content.

Well, who (barring everyone) could have foreseen that?

Reminder that Ireland’s Online Safety Code seeks to ban anything it (unpredictably) finds to be likely to detrimentally damage the moral development of kids.
It's incredible how this story keeps getting worse.

In case anyone was unclear about the consequences of the Online Safety Act, this is @taliabhatt.itch.io's itch page viewed in the UK.

I think it was under-reported (ie, not reported) that we came within a hair’s breadth of implementing a complete EU surveillance state *and* undermining the security of all messaging encryption on the 12th Dec last year.

Ireland was backing Hungary’s plan to do it.

This week I did an podcast interview with @tonygroves.bsky.social on the Echochamber podcast.

I was being asked about things covered in the Campaign Gists, and some of the wider context for the new government.

Listening back, I think it’s a conversation (positive).

If you’ve witnessed the growth of online extremism in Ireland over the past few years, then the constant minimisation of the threat of the far-right (by the authorities and some of the commentariat) has been akin to watching a disaster happen in slow motion.
