#FlashbackFriday to the 1920s when Portland cement filled gunnysacks. Two of these nearly 100 pound cloth bags of cement solidified in place under feet of #historicalfill dirt and clay, each weighing nearly 100 pounds and being larger than today's paper cement bags.

Artisinally (read: very slowly) excavating dirt for local recycling, a rare practice here where most is landfilled, while salvaging the antique brick, river stone, oyster shells, and glass for reuse as part of the expanded space.
