On January 1, Illinois begins to regulate employer use of AI, making it a civil rights violation to use AI tools that result in discrimination based on protected characteristics in hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, or other employment terms and requiring notice of AI use. #AIBillofRights
Illinois becomes one of the few states to regulate employer use of AI. House Bill 3773 amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to make it a civil rights violation for employers to use AI tools that result in discrimination based on race, gender, age, or disability.

At the next required "Use AI" session, I think I am going to work on creating a Copilot Agent that will let me search through my Outlook email for a specific phrase/sender and view the results in reverse chronological order.

Something frustratingly impossible to do since Copilot took over Outlook.

The auto-captioning for these videos has an "accuracy" metric.

They should just rename it what it really is measuring: how middle-class white the speech is.

Today when trying to figure out how to write some alt-text for a professor's image of a math equation, I found out about MathML. It is so cool! A standardized, markup language that makes math equations appear correctly (and accessibly) natively in most browsers without needing LaTeX plugins.

So, Microsoft, you are telling me there is no way to disable the useless, wasteful, inefficient, and annoying "Summary" block at the top of my Word documents if I am being made to use the web version of Office?! Ugh, this AI bubble can't burst fast enough.

NEW: Tech companies are betting big on nuclear energy to meet AIs massive power demands and they're using that AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants.
