by running to vik for help but i think that also makes their pathway to fixing things between them easier too cause jayce is arguably at his worst with both everything and nothing to lose and the one one he trusts in that moment is viktor

blame vik for 'corrupting' him and just nothing he says to fight back will be any weight to keep zaun safe.
he'd already breaking through his ego and the sass (and jump to anger/arguing looooosely headcanoned as a trigger to make the anomaly act up which makes their conversations much more civil)

i like to think too (especially when the arcane spread to his face) he realises he would be in danger if he went back cause he cant hide that. there is that internal fear he himself will be experimented on or deemed unsafe, or heaven forbid they will

I like to think their whole relationship to start with is quite odd for them both cause jayce is now effectively on the run and wants to get this fixed asap and trusts vik to know something. But then he spends more time time with vik and Zaun and kinda likes not being defender of tomorrow >3c
