My adhd and chronic pain constantly threaten to send me spiraling into a panic and/or depression each and every day. I don't begrudge anyone specific the memes but I agree that it completely downplays how invasively debilitating they are. I'm seriously sorry you have to deal with it too.

I know Freud's largely been debunked but there's definitely some truth to repression being a thing, I feel. The truth of my gender identity was just absolutely buried under depression and anxiety from a very young age.

One unrelated thing I just remembered distinctly was that I had an 'imaginary friend' as a child that was a girl that looked like me, I pictured her lying next to me at night and keeping me company. I would also get goosebumps and feel really alone, like I didn't belong where I was.
