SQL works great when you have combined analysis of inhouse and public datasets. I used it extensively with cancer datasets. Downloaded all data from cbioportal, made local SQL DBs and integrated them into ngs pipelines. I have very limited experience with EMRs but they are the perfect use case.

Hello everyone! I’m at NYU Langone working as a computational biologist in the center for transplant surgery. Previously worked in infectious diseases at Yale and Columbia, and in a drug discovery startup for cancer biology. I build bioinformatics pipelines for all kind of omics.

I can relate. As a compbio researcher having worked in neuroscience, cancer, infectious disease (viral and bacterial :)) and now in organ transplant research, I face difficulty defining my niche.
