I'm surprised about the decision to bring in Snell. I mean - maybe - but the Blue Jays have not been kind to him.

The Tragically Hip have some very poignant songs for this Blue Jays run.

Out Trick or Treating - at least a good number of houses have the game on and the curtains open.

This is wild.

Today I received a link to a David Jeremiah sermon, a "seasoned preacher," with an important message for our church, and I always wonder what congregants hope they are communicating when they do things like this. Sigh.

Two weeks in a row, I'm done and practiced my sermon by lunch on Friday. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a big deal for me.

I worry about attention spans and the labour of learning. Every time I open a pdf now to research for a sermon, I get a message like - this looks like a long document, would you like a summary? If an 18 page article is too long to just read and think about for a while...sigh.

Sometimes you go camping in Jasper, and have a great day, but then a big storm kicks up and your tent collapses while you are chillin' at the hot springs and you come back to a sopping mess at 10pm.

I suppose every family needs a story like this.

All in all, could have been worse, but still 🫠

Kane traded to Vancouver and it's not even my birthday until Saturday!

I still feel sad about the Oilers losing, even though I told my kids it's just meant for fun and we shouldn't let it bother us too much.

Life is already hard. Why add the cruelty of sports?

Oilers fandom = ascesis.

Hanging in there until the end only to drink the bitter cup of defeat. On repeat. Gah.

The tears have officially started to flow in this household.
June 18, 2025 at 2:39 AM
If those 3 times the crowd thought the Oilers scored were actual goals, we'd be tied! We'll always have that, I guess.
June 15, 2025 at 2:39 AM
I like watching post-game coverage, but could reporters do better than ask the exact same question of every single player doing media? Seriously.
June 13, 2025 at 4:45 AM
I think maybe we were on the PK (checks notes) the entire game.

Sitting in an Edmonton McDavids/McDonalds and it's a loop of various versions of La Bamba.

Everyone is doing their part for the win.

Everytime I see Chris Pronger, I think about the time - shortly after his departure from the Oilers - that a fan held up a "Go to hell, Pronger" sign during an Edmonton CFL game. Different season, different sport, same Edmonton fan-base.

The playoffs should work the same for the commentary team as for the on-ice team. If your team stays in it, so do you. If they go golfing, so do you.

My son and I are playing a lot of Wingspan lately, so we are talking about birds a lot lately, and now there are tons of birds showing up in my feed.

The world is so unsettling, even when a person tries to disconnect and be wholesome. 🐦🦉🦅🦆

As a fan of a team with chronically...anxiety-producing...goaltending, I imagine it's worse(?) when you are supposed to have the best goalie...and still...🚨🚨

Christ is Risen!

There are a lot of garbage things going on in the world. The things that make for death and destruction.

Today, we proclaim life and love are stronger, even when it doesn't feel like it.

Praying for resurrection eyes, to see the world in a new and hopeful way.

I'm having a pretty good day and if the Oilers wanted to win their game, I'd upgrade it from pretty good to pretty great.

Sunshine, blue sky, warm air, snow melting so quickly it sounds like a river running in the streets...

I know winter isn't completely over, but today felt like resurrection.
