Bristol socialism enjoyer. Gen AI posters blocked on sight.
I do a very normal spreadsheet job. Was fortunate enough to buy a Victorian 2 bed in Bristol with my wife. Two years later it was worth 200k more. I am not a shrewd investor and I am chronically online instead of actually productive.

It's incredible that someone can be as consistently wrong as Polly. The political commentariat has absolutely no clue how the world works outside their cosy bubble.

Yes. They are right wing.

"I agree but I also think demanding 40% pay rises are preposterous in the current climate. They should be laughed out the negotiating" could be a quote from any Tory or Reform spokesperson.

"I’m afraid if you go down the path of demanding 40% pay rises in one go you’re on the path to privatisation which no one wants… although ironically that would likely increase wages". This both a) wrong and b) a right wing talking point.

The strategy you are describing is exactly what got you in this situation. Yeah, it sucks, but centrism will inevitably fail to address the many crises of capitalism and fascism will arise. I don't envy you though, I don't know what local grassroots organisations you can join, but you should.

I mean, there's imperfect and then there's genocide. I think you might not grasp how much the rest of the world despises the US political class.

Nobody said that. We're trying to convey the fact that Dems will never offer anything to progressives if you vote for them no matter what they do or offer. They must be afraid of losing votes. And quite frankly, after their last few terms in office they don't deserve to be near power again.
November 10, 2025 at 11:12 AM
If that were true, why did Trump win a second term? It's because the neoliberal policies of Biden offered people nothing, and instead of moving left they fielded a singularly terrible candidate and committed a genocide. They don't care about the threat of fascism, they just want to do it politely.

The fact that it does affect me makes me all the more aware of how fucking stupid you have to be to think the democrats are part of any possible solution. Progressive policies and left wing economic populism would cut through demographic divides, but Dems field more corporate centrist goons.

I'm British. Your whole political establishment can go up in smoke for all I care. I look forward to the decline of the American empire.

Have democrats considered the possibility of fielding not-evil candidates? There could be something in that.
