Back on this vibe for 2025, although without my best friend by my side. Miss you every day, Spooky.
I forgot I doodled Drifter Shavi as a merman the other week

I actually haven't had time to draw or paint much-- packing, knitting projects and prepping for pendant production month taking precedence.

Alliteration not intended

RACHEL: Not really. I’m not super into Hanukkah.

He apparently made some specific complimentary observations and as I was not present at the time, I am slightly able to believe he genuinely appreciated seeing the work in person.

My therapist will be pleased I'm allowing myself to feel good about this

what do you mean you think I'm hard on myself

'Hey shad how's that personal story project going'

RT is an actual answer instead of self-effacing deflection.

I actually had to go back and change a lot of stuff bc the scope & intent changed

This has a realistic timeline of many years & is extremely personal. I didn't want to do a comic, but.
Worldbuilding, thematic flavors, major characters.

Currently in work: final narrative structure outline, visual concept art & style exploration, topical research

Difficult: making self emotionally vulnerable enough to engage with the work, being okay with drawing thing poorly due to inexperience.

My experience was a lot like this, too.

Thank you for making art that makes my grief feel seen.

IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE A COMIC...

Please talk about it on this thread! I would love to hear what stage you are at, what is working well, and what has proven more difficult than you thought.

Share a bit of art, if you can!

Sing your own praises, if you like!

He was absolutely one of the best comedians of our time, and a lot of that came from riffing in sometimes-filthy, sometimes-absurdist ways on his own moral sensibilities (which trended liberatory).

Then he was held to an actual moral standards and it broke him
Don't tell me that Louis CK was never funny.

Louis CK was absolutely funny before his controversy and it's remarkable that after being backed into a corner, he went all in on unfunny racist and transphobic jokes.

It's FASCINATING how he stopped being funny overnight.

We're just not emotionally ready for a more traditional thanksgiving as a family so we're just having korean food made by my bro for dinner.

there doesn't seem to be a space to make mistakes, to be a newbie. it's one of the reasons why I think frieren fan art meme is great and important. besides the memery, it's a huge protest against it - we all MISSED seeing amateur art because we don't SEE it anymore (algorithms!)

as a certified genAI art hater, I'd like more people to think about what contributed to its rise:

for decades, we've crafted and click-approved an online landscape where there's barely any space for hobby beginners. you compete for attention hand in hand with pros from day one

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”

Anyone with textured hair lmk what kind of decorative metal comb shapes (if any) are safe for your hair (whether loose or in braids/locs)?

Like do the tines need to be fully rounded to prevent any snagging/breaking?

like just checking: we all saw how artists of all calibres, many highly trained & paid professionals, openly shared their techniques/tools/advice for someone who tried something technically difficult that came out "bad" (disagree), still shared it, and now everyone can benefit from the results?
