I've been doing video game VO since 2003. In my 20+ years, only ONE game has ever paid "royalties/residuals/bonus payments."
That game?
Date Everything.
And that's ONLY because it's a game produced by professional voice actors who purposefully created a special contract for the game w/ SAG-AFTRA.

Ask literally any voice actor if they get royalties from the video games they worked on.
They will tell you no. They might even laugh.
Now imagine any developer actively trying to use AI VO to save money wanting to offer something like that.

Also, re: "they get royalties", how much money is that? Does it make up for the lack of continued work?

Super Mario World has an extremely eclectic art style whereby many enemies are drawn in completely different ways. Development files reveal Mario went through many stylistic changes; it is possible that all the enemies were made to fit Mario, but at different points in time.

I think a good thing to remind anyone who's leery or skeptical that FFXIV can get better after A Realm Reborn is that ARR was in fact made (not just written-- 100% made) in just a year and a half
The fact it was both monumentally better than 1.0 and so serviceable are miracles in their own right

After a turn of fate saw Robyn at a local gym, a forward and boisterous panther made him too curious (or polite) to turn down a test of the facilities

sort of incredible to read a review that doesn't just made a vague nod at AI being bad, but actively reckons with the ways in which falling obsessively to AI usage actively obliterates the artistic intent and integrity of the work you've made.
