Semaphore at Barrow Road Crossing. 19 October 2024. #railway #photography
A semaphore signal at Barrow Road Crossing, just by New Holland station on the Barton Line. As implied by the label with the two box codes, the signal here is “slotted” with the next box, Oxmarsh Level Crossing, just a couple of hundred metres away, so that it can only be cleared if both signallers have pulled the requisite lever.

TfW DMU 197102, working a curtailed 1W60 to Wilmslow, is just about to cross the level crossing at Craven Arms as it passes the cleared semaphore and distinctly utilitarian signal box. On left, two semaphore signals protect the level crossing and the exit from the siding.
