Every "late stage empire" reaches a point where:

1. The rich find ways to avoid taxes
2. The costs of governing fall on growing numbers of poor
3. Desperate poor are kept in line with authoritarian violence
4. Authoritarian violence can only last until the poor eventually go broke and it collapses.

Cool, now talk about SUVs and trucks with worse visibility than an M1 Abrams Tank, where the driver can't even see a child 4m in front of them.

Because kids are all suffering disabilities from COVID on top of everything else going on.

Any kid leaving school has probably suffered more repeated COVID infections than anyone else in the working population by now.

It's not a shock they'd be struggling cognitively.

The most important lesson about libertarianism is that nobody's really "libertarian".

The entire movement started off purely based on neo-confederate ideals trying to keep schools segregated.

The mythology of "libertarians" being "economically conservative but socially liberal" was a fabrication.

"Telepresence slavery" is such a dystopian cyberpunk idea it's weird that hasn't been a bigger theme in novels.
