It is Nov 1, and #Hooptober is over. I finished with 32, which isn't much compared to my previous years. I just couldn't get into this one. Maybe I didn't click with the categories, maybe I just picked the wrong movies. Who can say? I'll definitely be back for next year, though.

That Boone has conflated the damaged state of his mobile suit with his own physical body is another nice touch. There's a body horror element to this book that really pushes it over the top, especially with how the "white devil" lives in Boone's memory as a slavering demon.

Love this double-page spread as Flannagan Boone, blinded and disoriented in underwater combat, tries to locate his attacker using only sound. The sonar ping, Saqua's decoys, his men's premature celebration, all of it boxing him in and distracting the eye. Overlapping sound becomes visual panic.
