The figures from this are very dope because they split institutions by whether they reported previously considering race in admissions and you see a clear difference. The share of students who are Black in 2024, at institutions that previously used race, is the lowest it's been in a decade.

This graph shows the percentage of first-year Black students in 116 schools analyzed by CBS News from fall 2015 to fall 2024. It shows that the trend in share of Black students for all institutions drops slightly in 2024 but that is being driven by institutions that used to consider race in admissions, which had a sizeable drop. In fact, the share of students who are Black for institutions that used to consider race is the lowest it's been in a decade in 2024.
