For Small Business Saturday yesterday, I was out visiting some of our brilliant independents — including a stop at Marsh Farm Shop and a Full English breakfast at Tessie's Cafe.

As we head into Christmas, I’d encourage you to show your support and shop local where you can.

The Child Poverty Strategy has been published, which includes the lifting of the two-child benefit cap - set to benefit 2050 children in the constituency. I am immensely proud that the government will drive the biggest reduction of child poverty in a single Parliament.

Delighted that Oxfordshire is receiving over £15,000,000 for bus services, which will benefit us here in Banbury and North Oxfordshire. People are tired of unreliable bus services stopping them from getting to work or plans. This funding is another crucial step for us to deliver better services.

I contributed in the Commons earlier on the Dawn Sturgess inquiry, which has today published its report. It was an absolute tragedy, caused by a heinous act. This should never be allowed to happen again.

It was a real pleasure to hear the President of Germany talk about our history, mutual values and commitment to European security co-operation and standing with Ukraine. Honourable mentions to Oasis and Harry Kane as well.

The SEND consultation is out, and I would urge anyone interested to participate and share their views. I am glad that people with experiences of SEND issues have a chance to help shape policy in this area.

Regarding the improvements to Banbury train station, and the fact that the drop off point is being placed quite a distance away, I have written to the leader of OCC, and the Cabinet member for transport requesting a meeting. This is now being arranged, and I look forward to visiting the site soon.

I have signed this letter, calling on the government to roll out Housing First nationally. Housing First provides housing to people who are homeless and operates on seven key principles, including giving individuals control over the type and location of their housing.

I raised a question today on small and medium sized businesses in Banbury, and what is being done to support them. I visit lots of local businesses every week and hear about their concerns, so it was good to hear from the Minister today.

I am delighted that pensioners will no longer lose out thanks to changes made by the Chancellor, as compensation payments from the Pension Protection Fund and Financial Assistance Scheme on eligible pensions built up before April 1997 will from now on be linked to CPI-inflation (capped at 2.5%).

I have concerns over proposals to change Oxfordshire's fire service. I oppose the reduction of full time firefighters in Banbury from 28 to 24 and the reduction in the size of watches from 5 to 4. Safety in Banbury and North Oxfordshire will always be a priority.

Pleased to see a record amount of funding for potholes in our local area, which sees Oxfordshire getting £122,204,000 of baseline funding, on top of £45,697,000 as an extra incentive allocation.

This is part of the £7.3 billion allocated nationally to deliver immediate improvements for communities.

My wife and I had a lovely meal in Jool on Parsons Street in Banbury on Saturday evening. We're really looking forward to our next visit. Thank you so much to the whole team at Jool for looking after us.

I enjoyed getting out and about in Shutford on Saturday to speak to local residents about their views and concerns. Positive reception and several bits of casework picked up.

On Banbury rail station, despite having good intentions, I have concerns with these 'improvements' in terms of limiting accessibility for elderly and disabled passengers.

Yesterday, I also visited St John’s Catholic Primary School, speaking to students and answering any questions they had. It's great to engage with local schools, and help the children understand the role of an MP and what I do for their local area.

On Tuesday, I made some more contributions in the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee. Here, I was questioning the Chief Executive Regulator of Social Housing, Fiona MacGregor, about what they're doing to protect tenants.

As part of UK Parliament Week, I went to visit Bishop Carpenter School in North Newington, where the children asked some very engaging and thoughtful questions. I also met with Headteacher Nicola Stevenson, and was able to see the school and their facilities. Thank you for the warm welcome.

On behalf of local company Royce Lingerie, and the great work they are doing to promote menopause policies in work, I would like to share their survey which I would like to encourage all SMEs in the Banbury area to fill out.

Following a survey I asked local businesses to complete, I have requested a meeting with the BID team, in order to try and improve their services for local businesses. I am grateful for everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts, and I will follow up these responses and push for action.
