another month in books! Sonia and Sunny absolutely the highlight, but enjoying titles from smaller presses like @foundryeditions.bsky.social Peirene Press & Divided. killing the nerve was cool, v well written. i enjoyed the Maggie Nelson as a quick one, and had v mixed thoughts on Martyr #booksky

i am reading martyr and honestly I don’t rate it so far. it’s fine, the protagonist is kinda interesting, and the concept of martyrdom is unique but I feel like I’ve read so many books on the immigrant experience in the USA lately and in that respect it really has nothing new to add

Delighted to hear that Flesh won the #bookerprize2025. What a ride of a novel, the quickest I’ve finished a book this year. I hope all the new readers will be as absorbed as I was. I was hoping for a Kiran Desai win! I was blown away by her novel, a beautiful book full of heart and humour #booksky
