And it'll take quite a bit to beat minecraft in anything - from its simplicity, infinite possibilites for architecture due to the sandbox nature of it, modding scene - you name it. It's good, and sometimes we just don't need another minecraft, we have one at home. And it's good.

There's a term "re-inventing the wheel", which more or less captures a good majority of games that don't have some form of unique gimmick or atmosphere to them. It just ends up being a soulless copycat of whatever popular title in the genre that they're trying for.
