Come for the developer journalism, stay for the long running SFF review series, photographs of inner London birding, and well, the randomness of a crapaud in the big city.

All this from an ex-engineer who found one of his cancelled projects in For All Mankind.

And if you want to chat try Signal.
It appears to be Chelsea boot season.

Recent Reads: The Casebook Of Stamford Hawksmoor. Bryan Talbot's prequel to his Grandville books is a political thriller hidden in an anthropomorphic Holmesian mystery. After 200 years of French rule London is soon to be free, but someone aims to profit from chaos and murder. Conspiracies run free.

Like many Gen X SFF readers I knew about the exploding whale long before the Internet, as it was repurposed as part of the back story of one of the characters in Oregon SF writer Julian May’s epic 1981 novel, The Many-Coloured Land.

The History of Exploding Whales Is the History of the Internet Itself
My first whale video came in the form of a VHS tape mailed to me by a stranger from the internet.

If you made up past 2am you were able to see a mere smattering of an #aurora from London, as the rain stopped and the clouds thinned for a few minutes.

Recent Reads: Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees. Patrick Horvath's cozy horror anthropomorphic graphic novel takes us to where serial killer bear Sam has to find out who's now killing in her quiet hometown, the place she hides her crimes. To keep her secret she has to solve the crime. Darkly cute.

Ian Fleming came up with the idea of putting false intelligence and identies in the pockets of corpses and throwing them in the Channel to be found by the Nazi forces in Europe.

It stands to reason then that James Bond is a fake identity that comes with the 007 role.

Started reading Patrick Horvath's Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees. Is there such a genre as cozy horror? Because this is that - a serial killer in a world of anthropomorphic animals has to track down another killer as it's brought her secret life to the small town where she lives. Recommended.
