I think I enjoy them now because I went to all the effort of reading them (and being like jfc it's so confusing) and then seeing them I'm like ohhhh THAT GUY! RIGHT! OKAY. Sunk cost, etc etc.

I think it adds some fun details to the story. Like ohhhh Durin, who's the ancestor from the shenanigans that happen in The Hobbit, ohhh this is how Gandalf (who's neither man nor elf) ends up in Middle Earth...

So they could sit on top of the garden bed but I could like, flip them over to dig into the bed etc. Does that make sense?
