First round of completed draft edits! Early daysss!

I'm pretty lucky, I knew it would be a hard sell, but wanted to try something new in a mentorship I got accepted for with an author who writes genre fiction, and ended up LOVING it - and I've had such wonderful feedback so far! Working on something that's a little more market-friendly as a debut!

WRITE A DIFFERENT BOOK! I've had three rejections on my full requests (tricky/risky to market as a debut), but most so far have come with an immediate request to see my other work or forward it to them directly if closed! Remember, it's often not the writing agents are passing on, it's the market!

Honestly, knew I made the right decision when I felt good about it after! No regrets! It seems like I've accidentally written a second book... A lil risky for a debut. Good thing my next manuscript is JUST ABOUT ready to submit to agents who requested it after reading FB! #SFFCommunity #KeepWriting

I didn't like Katabisis at all :'-) I think Kuang is SO talented, and I love her writing style on page / her intelligence, so I'll keep giving her books a shot. But all have fallen flat for me so far as a whole, aside from Yellowface. Odd that I really enjoyed that, bc I'm not a contemporary reader!

Thank you. She was an incredible woman. It pains me to say 'was,' but it's the reality of the harrowing number of intimate partner violence murders occurring in Australia, unfortunately. She stood against the patriarchy; fought for women's and LGBTQ+ rights. Nobody is safe, no matter how cautious.

Like our politicians aren't perfect, the system of politics is corrupt at its core, but our political parties are more 'there is a monkey in their brains smashing money cymbals' than 'we love god but are above the law so it's fine to be racist, bigoted, homophobic r4pists'

I think even Grammarly is useless for fiction anyway, bc it lacks the nuance of a human person. Great for speeding up mundane work tasks in my office life, and I utilise it on the work desktops, but I won't touch it for anything in study (research essays) or writing. It's not suitable for it.
