Some games don't have initiative orders. How to keep track of who's acted each turn? Have people knock their card over. At the end of the turn, everyone stands the cards up again.

Game with miss-a-turn rules? Knock over the card. On your turn, stand it up instead of taking an action.

Very handy.

For example, when in combat in Starforged, you're either 'in control' or 'in a bad spot'.

And it can be hard to remember who's in what state, particularly if there's a lot of players. So I tell people, when you're in a bad spot, knock your name card over. When you're in control, stand it up.

There is no such thing as leftover mince pies, only mince pies which I have not yet eaten.

I think we might be getting old. 😀

And for those who are able to stay for the evening session, three great games!

That's how it works, although we might be tweaking things a bit next time due to the sheer number of GMs we're attracting. 😀

Everyone, tell your friends about @concretecow.bsky.social! We have room for so many players!

There's no one right answer because all cons are different. But I think it's nice to offer some kind of reward to GMs, just because there wouldn't be much of a con without us.

And I save on printing costs by running the same scenario at multiple cons.

Unless it's a big con like UKGE, I expect to pay the same as the non-GMs. The organisers have to pay the venue hire costs and it's not always viable to run a small con if the GMs don't pay.

Priority game sign up, on the other hand, is free to offer and a nice bonus. Most cons I go to do that.

The Tell A Story thing from Escape from Dino Island is an underrated part of the game IMO. It fits with the cinematic feels where we learn who these people are over the course of the story.

The only message someone should take from my using a GM screen is that it's got really useful tables on it.

I use them for Pathfinder 2e, Dragonbane and Punk Is Dead, the latter partly because it's really cute and has pictures of speakers on.

😂

He's with us. In the absence of any suitable gourd leshy miniature, the player got creative with a kobold and some white tak.

I'm glad to say it was the wisps who retreated. I knew there was a reason I kept Revealing Light in memory.

Despite being in my forties and in possession of an audio interface, I have still not felt the urge to create a podcast. But if you'd like me to appear on yours, please ask!
