Everyone has them, the project that starts as a quick idea that rapidly blossoms into having a life of its own and often leads down an unanticipated path. Sometimes they wrap up nicely with a tidy publication and sometimes it becomes your new primary research focus.

Unfortunately I didn't see a single Monarch caterpillar on these plants but I have seen a dozen or so in the past couple weeks as I've been walking around :)
