I am a screenwriter (Blinded by the Light), author (Greetings from Bury Park, They), journalist (Guardian, Times and lots of others), I teach at UCL and am working on my first stage play. Mostly though I am a husband and father of two young children.
Not sure what to think about this.

I am in a state of shock after reading of the death of the brilliant Observer journalist Rachel Cooke. She was only 56. She leaves behind a huge body of work but she had so much more to offer I am sure.
I guess none of us know how long we have left- the deadline might be nearer than we think.

I hope the Saudis are informed that one of their citizens was convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl- their punishments tend to be somewhat harsher than 19 weeks in prison.

If you're a fan of David Nicholls- and let's be honest who isn't- I am talking to him this evening in Wimbledon and there are a handful of tickets still available.

I'm just glad there isn't an epidemic of shoplifting and phone thefts which might have kept those THREE enforcement officers from stopping a woman pouring some coffee down the drain.

This is like those Farrow and Ball paint shades- they can't just say white so they have to come up with 'slipper satin' and 'culturally coherent.'

I am talking to David Nicholls next week at Wimbledon Book Festival. |It's the final date of his You Are Here- which many people are likening to Taylor Swift's Eras tour but with fewer costume changes and more hysterical screaming. There's only a few tickets still available.
