Considering how well Jay Jones did I doubt Platner is going to feel any significant heat to drop out (barring new developments).

It's easy to blame SpaceX, but it's not SpaceX or a competent space program that will easily get us to the Moon and beyond, it's SpaceX or NOTHING. The US has long hallowed out its institutional capacity well before SpaceX ever took of.
If not for SpaceX we'd still need Russia just to go to the ISS
in retrospect it may have been a mistake to bet our national space exploration ambitions on a drugged-out maniac and his big dumb metal rocket

Remember when Twitter sued Musk to force him to buy Twitter?
Unspeakable how instrumental fiduciary duties have been to the rise of fascism in the US.

Normally talking about the horrid second order effects of what Israel did in Qatar would be a mere academic exercise about how breaking well understood norms make the whole world less safe.

Less than 24 hours later Russia forced NATO planes to intercept a threat in its territory for the first time

I do sometimes morbidly wonder what the response to a modern day Challenger disaster would be with the current culture and administration. Nothing good, of course.
It's full steam ahead for NASA, according to Sean Duffy, the agency's acting administrator. During an internal employee town hall, Duffy warned of "letting safety be the enemy of progress" when it comes to winning the space race, according to a recording obtained by NBC News.

Acting NASA administrator Sean Duffy also told agency employees not to let "safety be the enemy of progress."

At a minimum why should Dems vote to fund the government without some kind of assurance that the money appropriated gets spent exactly how Congress appropriates it?
From a game theory perspective Dems also gotta show willingness to go to a shutdown or they're just gonna get jammed with a Trump bill
gonna need everyone on this website to preregister their takes on whether a government shutdown is an affirmative good or no

I feel like America is neck deep into its own century of humiliation at this point. Hard to see things get better when we're watching its institutions collapse in real time and the elite on both political ends have all become all but sociopathic.

I'd say this ended up being a massive win that they definitely needed after some very embarrassing failures. Hopefully this good momentum continues onto the next tests.

Major congratulations to the SpaceX engineers who made today possible.
It got off the ground???????????????????!!!
