...it's been a few decades since I took analytical chemistry, but wouldn't cadmium testing require an atomic absorption instrument, not a GC/MS?

I wouldn't mind, actually. I'm a chemist by training and have never done an ELISA, but I do all my PCR in 96 well plates, so how different can it be?
