The list of top 100 most followed accounts here is either political accounts or celebrities who post a lot about US politics.

Given Bluesky's labelers and blocklists, I am not following a single one of them here. Get enough of that on other media.

Thankful for this feature.
Here is a simple test to determine if one is a free thinker or a partisan - Name at least one policy that you support that could harm or even hurt you but would be good for the country or the world.

It is a simple but accurate test.

This is a monumental day for the future of the open web, though it might not be obvious for a while. Mastodon matures its governance model with a great, solid non-profit blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/01/the-... and a coalition of independents push to open up Bluesky's AT Protocol: freeourfeeds.com
The people should own the town square
It is more important than ever that the social web is not controlled by corporations. Today, Mastodon is taking another step towards its founding ideals: independence and non-profit ownership. We're t...

Folks are mostly missing the forest for the trees re: the recent Meta announcement. Specifically, the focus on the move from fact checking to community notes. There two different changes that are a much bigger deal that have received less focus. 🧵 1/11

One of the points I made was in reference to “community notes”. Its being pitched as a new form of moderation. But the reality on X is that almost every time, Notes only show up to the people who volunteer to respond.
They aren’t visible to everyone else. So they really don’t have an impact

We flagged this new bot network on Bluesky two days ago for inauthentic behaviour. However, it looks like the accounts associated with this new network are still up and running.
Hello @safety.bsky.app, here's a new pro-Russian disinfo bot network on Bluesky, which we're dubbing "Curiosity". It comprises over 300 accounts with identical bio text: "Driven by curiosity and a passion for exploring new ideas and technologies."

How is in-class writing not surveillance but process tracking on a document is? They're both forms of observation. With digital observation, you have to be really careful what's done with the data. But it's not fundamentally different, is it?

(2) To prevent cheating, I and my TAs walk around as students type their answers.

(3) Students make one-page cheatsheets, which is effective to prep!

I have been using it for over 20 years, from my university days organizing events to today for work!

It's cross platform and has so many features. Thanks to the maintainers for this great FOSS program. 👍

I used ChatGPT to identify a plumbing problem but the resolution still might need a plumber or purchase of tools.

This is so close to a "I used ChatGPT" to save me 100s of Dollars" story.

Sigh.
